Sreemangal (also known as Srimangal), an upazila of Moulovibazer in the northern-eastern Division of Sylhet, is the Tea Capital of Bangladesh. Sreemangal, is located at 24.3083°N 91.7333°E. It has 43,952 households and total area 450.74 km. As of the 1991 Bangladesh census, Sreemangal had a population of 230,889. Males constitute 51.76% of the total population, whereas, the females were 48.24%. Sreemangal has 9 Unions/Wards, 129 Mauzas/Mahallas, and 206 villages. It is a hilly area covered with tea estates.
There are small Tilas (hills) there. There are 47 tea gardens in Sreemangal. This little town is located about 200 KM northeast of Dhaka. It is one of the world’s sources of high quality tea, contributing to 3% of the world’s total production. However it doesn’t stop there. The Seven-Layered Tea

Nilkantha Tea Cabin, located around 5 kilometers south of town near BGB (Previously known as BDR) camp, serves tea with visibly 7 different layers. Invented by a local, the 7-layered tea is an original delicacy from Sreemangal. Published and televised locally and in different countries in the world, this is a treat you wouldn’t want to miss while in town. Sip each layer slowly and try to guess what each layer is for a really fun experience. One-layered to six-layered tea are also available.
